Since, I had to find a new hobby, I decided to try Jewelry making. I love the "The Musketeers." The design work done on the costumes is amazing. Since learning to do copper etching, I applied it the bands. I discovered that buckles are the easiest way to change the width to make them more versatile. Riveting the copper on was better than epoxy. I lucked out and got Vintage buckles out of Eastern Europe. Etsy has become my favorite place to shop. I discovered two grades of leather - Farmer and Premium. The farmer leather is thicker/masculine and the Premium is thinner/softer/more flexible. I decided that for a more expensive/quality look the premium leather and vintage buckles were the best. The farmer leather and cheaper buckle were economical but still durable. I have to be, as usual, experimenting finding a balance of design and quality. I am very happy with the results. A little touch of a natural stone like dragon vein agate adds more appeal. Here are some examples:
These have generic buckles and farmer leather. Durable and adjustable.
This one has farmer leather and a vintage buckle. I had to create a leather ring to hold the band in place. Since I have a letter punch. Phrases are a breeze.
I personally love this one. The mixed metal, premium leather, dragon vein agate, and vintage buckle made a really nice color balance.
Since I have a vinyl cutter, creating the words is easy.
This one is nice, because the phrase is from such a touching scene in the show. "I could have loved a man like u". I don't believe in straight lines or black and white. I prefer randomness and organic movement. This one is a great example.
